This is just a post with some updates and information. I was on the Irish Times Inside Politics podcast released yesterday talking about housing, the election and the parties’ policies. It was great to have the chance to talk for a whole 45 minutes about the ins and outs of the pre-election housing debate, and what is really at stake in terms of where our housing politics is going. As a result of the Podcast, I have quite a few new subscribers (welcome) and I so I thought it would be useful to share some of my posts over recent weeks that relate to tomorrow’s election:
Sinn Fein’s Plans for Private Rental Sector reform
The Soc Dems promise €1,000 cost rents (covers their whole housing manifesto)
Sinn Féin’s plan for social, cost rental and affordable housing
What are all the parties’ promising on housing (with mega-table!)
Irish housing politics: hidden consensus?
I also have some older posts which are more academic takes on housing policy but are relevant to this election:
Housing systems and electoral politics
The end of neoliberal housing policy in Ireland?
Thanks to everyone who has engaged in my pre-election stuff. I’ll no doubt be writing a bit about what happens after the election as far as it relates to housing, especially the new Programme for Government. Otherwise, it will be back to normal service with the usual mix of Irish and international housing policy and politics.
